Privacy Policy for Tuckedaway
Effective date: August 7, 2026
App name: Tuckedaway

1. Overview
Tuckedaway is a personal item-location organizer. It lets you save item names, descriptions, notes, storage zones, exact spots, tags, categories, photos, reminders, favorites, profile preferences, and optional app-lock settings.
Tuckedaway is designed as an on-device app. Your inventory data is stored locally on your device. The app does not operate its own cloud server and does not upload your inventory to a Tuckedaway backend.
2. Information you provide or create in the app
Depending on how you use the app, Tuckedaway may store the following information locally on your device:
- Your first name or display name for personalized greetings.
- Your optional profile picture.
- Item names, short descriptions, notes, quantities, zones, exact spots, categories, tags, favorites, and activity history.
- Photos you take or choose for items.
- Reminder dates and notification preferences.
- Theme and appearance preferences.
- An optional 4-digit app PIN verifier, and a separate 4-digit PIN if you choose to enable the optional Personal Vault. Tuckedaway stores only a salted hash of each PIN, never the plain PIN.
- A local full-version unlock status after a Google Play purchase is confirmed.
3. Photos and camera
When you add item photos or a profile picture, you choose whether to take a new photo or select an existing image from your device. Selected photos are copied into app-private, encrypted storage. Tuckedaway does not change your original gallery files.
The app declares camera hardware as optional, so devices without a camera can still use the app. Photo access is initiated by you through Android system pickers or camera actions.
4. Voice input
Tuckedaway provides voice-to-text buttons for search and selected item fields. Voice recognition is handled by your device's selected Android speech-recognition service. Tuckedaway receives the recognized text and places it into the field you selected.
Your device's speech service may process audio according to that service's own privacy policy and settings. Tuckedaway itself does not request direct microphone permission.
5. Reminders and notifications
If you enable reminders, Tuckedaway may ask for notification permission. Reminders are used to notify you about tucked items after selected time periods or on custom dates you choose. Reminder notifications are generated locally by the app.
Tuckedaway also requests permission to run briefly when your device finishes restarting or after the app is updated. This is used solely to reschedule your existing reminders, which Android otherwise clears on restart. No personal data is read, transmitted, or processed during this step beyond checking which reminders you already had set.
6. App lock, Personal Vault, and biometrics
You may choose to protect Tuckedaway with a 4-digit app PIN. Separately, you may choose to enable the Personal Vault, an optional area protected by its own independent 4-digit PIN, for items you'd like kept apart from the rest of your inventory. Tuckedaway stores only a salted hash of each PIN, never the plain PIN, and tracks failed unlock attempts locally to enforce a temporary lockout after repeated incorrect entries.
If biometric unlock is enabled, fingerprint or face authentication is handled by Android. Tuckedaway does not receive or store your biometric data.
7. Backup, export, and transfer
Tuckedaway lets you export and import app data so you can transfer your inventory to another device. Exporting is user-initiated. Backup files may contain item details, storage locations, photos, settings, and profile information.
Backup files are encrypted using a password you set at the time of export. Tuckedaway uses AES-256-GCM encryption with a key derived from your password through PBKDF2 (120,000 iterations) and a random salt, so the exported file itself is unreadable without that password. Choose a strong backup password, and keep both the exported file and the password private, since anyone with both could restore your inventory.
Full-version purchase entitlement is not included in exported backup files and is not meant to be transferred that way. Purchase restoration should be handled through Google Play using the Google account that made the purchase.
8. Purchases and Google Play Billing
Tuckedaway may offer a free version with a storage limit and a paid full-version unlock. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Google may collect and process payment and purchase information according to Google's own policies. Tuckedaway receives purchase status information needed to unlock paid features and may store a local unlock flag on your device.
9. Data sharing
Tuckedaway does not sell your personal data. Tuckedaway does not run its own backend server for your inventory data. The app may interact with Android system services and Google Play services for features you choose to use, including voice recognition, photo/camera selection, biometric authentication, notifications, and in-app purchases.
10. Data security
Tuckedaway encrypts your local data at rest using AES-256-GCM with a key held in the Android Keystore, rather than relying only on standard app-private storage. This covers your item catalog, zones, categories, profile details, and stored PIN verifiers. Exported backup files use a separate layer of password-based encryption, described in Section 7.
11. Data retention and deletion
Your local Tuckedaway data remains on your device unless you delete it, import over it, remove specific items/photos, or uninstall/clear the app's data. You can delete individual items inside the app. You can also remove exported backup files anywhere you saved them.
Tuckedaway currently does not create a developer-hosted account, so there is no server-side account to delete.
12. Children's privacy
Tuckedaway is intended as a general productivity utility and is not specifically directed to children. Do not use the app to store information about children unless you have the right to do so.
13. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated when Tuckedaway changes its features, data handling, or legal requirements. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are made.
